📱 The phone company LG is launching a fund called Mission for the future. 💰 CAC40 companies have made over 100 billion euros in profits in 2021. This figure illustrates the economic dynamism of certain sectors: luxury goods and banks in particular.

😍 Founder of the week: Louis Chatriot
This week we present you Louis Chatriot, CEO & Co-founder of Alma.
Have you heard about “buy now, pay later”, these solutions which let customers pay over time ? Alma is one of them, founded in 2017 by Louis Chatriot and Guillaume Desloges.
Instead of buying your new phone up front, you'll use Alma to split the payment into installments. It makes the cost affordable for the customer, the ecommerce website will be paid in advance and Alma will take a share of the purchase. This solution increases the ecommerce website conversion rate and expands their total addressable market (TAM) to target more price sensitive customers.
Let’s get back to Louis! Louis grew up near Paris and started coding video games, websites and apps at the age of 7. Son of a rally driver father and a sculptor mother, passionate about math and physics, he started studying engineering at Polytechnique and then at Stanford. After graduation, he worked as a Teaching Assistant in Computer Science at Stanford and then as a Consultant at Bain & Company. In 2012, he created his first startup, tldr.io (a community of readers helping each other by summarizing any webpage, podcast and video of the web) which he sold 2 years later.
He went back to teaching at Polytechnique this time and then became Country Manager France of Local Motion (keyless car sharing technology) before spending 2 years at Stripe as General Manager Italy to finally, in 2018, launch Alma.
Since then, Alma has raised more than €270M, including a €115M Series C round announced 10 days ago (February 10, 2022) and a €95M debt financing. They have recognized investors such as Eurazeo, Picus Capital, Cathay Innovation, Seaya Ventures, Tencent... But above all, they have a crazy growth with more than 6000 merchants working with Alma. Buying behaviors have changed enormously in the last few years and the BNPL sector is growing rapidly. We wish Louis the best in his adventure with Alma 🙌
