📉 Facebook has lost 24% of its market value. Facebook, or rather Meta (which now includes Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc.) has seen its share price fall by more than 20% this week, wiping out $200 billion in capitalisation. This drop is explained by disappointing financial results and questions about the company: legislative regulation, the decline in the number of users, revenues affected by Apple's anti-tracking, etc.
🚀 Investment in African start-ups to double by 2021. The news was revealed in an annual report published by the famous Partech fund: Africa is attracting more and more investors. In 2021, 5.2 billion dollars were raised thanks to 681 fundraisings, 63% of which went to fintechs. These figures make Africa one of the fastest growing areas for tech. It should be noted that 34% of the investments took place in Nigeria and that there are still inequalities between countries on this subject.

😍 Founder of the week: Quitterie Mathelin-Moreaux
This week we present you Quitterie Mathelin-Moreaux, CEO & Co-founder of Skello.
Created in 2016, Skello is an HR management tool for optimizing team scheduling and organization especially in the hospitality, retail and healthcare sectors.
In September 2021, for its latest funding round, the startup raised €40 million in Serie B with Partech as lead and the participation of its historical investors XAnge and Aglaé Ventures.
With 8000 customers, 150,000 users, 180 employees and more than 60 job openings at the time of writing, Skello is on its way to becoming one of the great success stories of French tech. At the origin of this adventure, Quitterie Mathelin-Moreaux (CEO), Emmanuelle Fauchier-Magnan (COO) and Samy Amar (CIO).
After a preparatory class in Paris, Quitterie joined the ESCP Business School. She then met her future partner in 2014, in San Francisco where she was working for Work4, and it was while observing the increasingly digital-assisted organization of staff in Financial District restaurants that they came up with the idea of implementing a digital tool, even though French restaurant and hotel owners still work with Excel.
Quitterie is only 24 when Emmanuelle and her decide to launch Skello. At the same time, she decided to take an intensive 3-month Web Developer course at Le Wagon to understand the basics and get into the community. She met Samy Amar and convinced him to join the project.
After a seed round of €300,000 in 2016, notably with Thomas Landais (co-founder of Doctolib), a €6 million Series A with Aglaé Ventures, XAnge and Jean-Baptiste Rudelle (co-founder of Criteo), Skello and Quitterie are thus continuing their hypergrowth with this latest €40 million round.
We will continue to follow closely the development of Skello, led by Quitterie and her teams, and wish her every success 🚀
